Imax 3D, the best 3D experience so far in a dome, was undoubtedly the choice when we booked tickets for ‘The Amazing Spiderman’. With the 3D glasses on, we sat though an over 2 hour movie with utter amazement.

Movie Still – The Amazing Spiderman

A quick opinion? It is definitely better than the previous spidey movies. And strangely indeed, this movie has filled in the void left by its predecessors. In The Amazing Spiderman, every character is perfectly etched with substantial roles to back it up that are gradually introduced during the course of the movie. Never once during the movie you will be reminded of the previous Spiderman series. This movie has handpicked the characters from the original Marvel comic yet retaining some basic elements as the director Marc Webb maneuvered its new plot, skillfully and successfully.

Andrew Garfield as The Amazing Spider Man

Based on the similarity, the comparisons are bound to arise. And since this new movie has surpassed the huge expectation and has made a niche for itself, I feel the need to brutally compare the characters. So you can move over Tobey Maguire, as Andrew Garfield – the new Peter Parker a.k.a Spiderman is amazingly convincing and far better. He manages to look goofy without looking dumb. Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy stands out and you silently thank the casting director for not putting you through the torture inducing presence (not to be confused with acting) of Kristen Dunst as MJ.

Denis Leary as Captain Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors and Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben

Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors, a brilliant scientist with personal battles is perfectly convincing. Denis Leary as Captain Stacy and Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben are not only apt for their roles but also enhances the character’s screen presence, manifold. Irrfan Khan, our talented export for the movie, is good at what he does, till you strain to hear his weird accent. Not American not Indian, just plain and simple weird!

Irrfan Khan

Over all a great 3D movie with amazing and stable plot supported by an apt starcast!
